Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Whether before or after Christ came to earth, salvation has always been provided only through the perfect offering of Christ on the cross. Believers who lived before Calvary and never knew any specifics about Jesus were nevertheless forgiven and made right with God by faith in anticipation of the Messiah’s sacrifice. On the other hand, believers who lived after the cross have been saved by looking back to it. When Christ shed His blood, it covered sins forward and backward. The old covenant goes up to the cross; the new covenant comes from it. Christ’s sacrificial death has ultimately always been the object of faith.1 As we consider Galatians 3:10-14, take some time to think about what Christ has done for you. May our hearts be reminded of that old rugged cross, that old cursed cross, that emblem of suffering and shame for us.
