Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Welcome to our new series through the book of Luke. I’m calling the theme of our journey, “Past Promises, Present Redemption” because Luke’s gospel account helps us see Jesus as the fulfillment of Old Testament who brings redemption to all who believe. Now, the book opens in a bit of an unexpected way. While its main character is Jesus, the story doesn’t begin with him. Instead, Luke backs up and starts with the birth of John the Baptist. He wants us to see that John is the forerunner of the Messiah who prepares the way. So, this week as we begin our study of the gospel of Luke and our season of Advent, let’s think about John the Baptist, who’s mission was to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. Let’s prepare for our Lord and his coming.
