Healthy Churches Confront False Teaching

October 27, 2019

Passage: Titus 1:10-16 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Truth that Transforms

Length: 52 mins 12 secs Plays: 1015

Speaker: Lukus Counterman - We must not underestimate the destructive power of false teaching. Cleverly crafted messages with a thread of truth sewn into the fabric of deceit can lead away the unsuspecting. From the outside, these false teachers don’t look detestable, disobedient, or unfit. Their message sounds very benign, and perhaps even encouraging. They are often charismatic, eloquent, and insightful teachers, but as Paul puts it, both their minds and their consciences are defiled. If false teachers go unchecked in a church, they will cloud the gospel, confuse immature or gullible Christians, and subvert entire households by leading them away from the truth. So, what must be done? How should we handle false teachers? Well, we are responsible to confront and correct them. So, may the Lord guard our congregation from these wolves, and give us courage to expose, silence, and rebuke them if they show up.
