Speaker: Jon Kopp - This morning, we continue our series looking into the relationships that believers have with one another. The community life that we hope is a mark of Gospel Grace Church. Community is the simple word that we use to describe the way we live together. It is something that we all desire, but often cannot find. We all long for true relationships where we know and are known by others--the kind of friend that would die for you. Throughout the New Testament, we see that the gospel of Jesus does a work of making us His people. We are God’s family, and if we are to be at home with Him, we must know His house rules. The awesome thing about God’s house rules is that the more we understand them and live in them, the more we find that this is where we are most whole and at home. Life-touching-life community is God’s intention for us! And it all flows out from Jesus. Everything we do as believers is a reflection of Jesus and His work for us on the cross, and community is no exception. This morning in 2 Corinthians 5, we will see another dimension of living together in light of who Jesus is and what He has done. Community is death and life. So, How does the cross and resurrection of Jesus affect our relationships with others? Paul says that we are compelled to die and live for God and like God.
