Passage: Luke 23:1-56 Speaker: Pastor Jon Kopp Series: Luke - Past Promises, Present Redemption
Speaker: Jon Kopp - As Luke’s gospel reaches its climax, we find ourselves at the somber and sacred narrative of the trial, crucifixion, death, and burial of Jesus. We approach it in reverence and awe, but, it is not a quiet scene. The text is full of voices and conversations and arguments and mocking. One person is notably quiet, though. In the middle of all of the noise and chaos is Jesus. He only speaks 5 times. The text seems to be more about what happens to Him than what he does Himself. But, make no mistake, the King of the Jews is no passive victim. And as the hours before Jesus’ death unfold, we see Him for Who He really is.
