The Awesome Holiness of God

Passage: Isaiah 6:1-13 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Isaiah: The Lord is Salvation

Length: 1 hr 4 mins 38 secs Plays: 2506

Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In this passage we will encounter the holiness of God in a way that will leave us breathless. Picture in your mind’s eye – the heavenly temple, an exalted throne, God – whose glory can’t be gazed upon, while the smell of incense fills your nostrils and thick smoke clouds your view. You stare downward at the hem of his robe, because looking at the King of glory could be deadly. Fiery angelic beings hover all around singing in thunderous praise, “HOLY, HOLY, HOLY.” Over and over these seraphim proclaim the majestic transcendence of God with such resounding volume, that the whole earth shakes. The echo of their voices is almost deafening. So, why would God reveal himself like this? Why would he manifest himself as the high and holy One, clothed in unapproachable light? Perhaps it is so that we might become people with a big vision of God, people with a deep awareness of our sinfulness, people with a profound experience of grace, and an unreserved willingness to spend and be spent in His service.
