Speaker: Jon Kopp - As we turn the page from 2022 and enter 2023, a question that I’m sure you’ve heard or asked at least a few times the last few days is this: “Are you ready for the new year?” It’s a question that encapsulates a lot of the emotions that we bring into this season. Are we ready for a fresh start? Are we ready to try something new? Are we ready to accomplish our goals? And, even—Are we ready to leave the last year behind us? In our text this weekend, Luke introduces us to a prophet in the wilderness who has come with another message of readiness. But, in his message, he isn’t asking about resolutions, goals, or even regrets. He is commanding readiness for the coming King Jesus. As we study that message to God’s people, I think we find a timeless message for our own relationship with God. Do we have hearts that are ready to receive Him? May God use His word to show us the humility, repentance, and expectancy that we need to receive the gift of grace in Christ and His salvation.
