Passage: 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: 1 Corinthians - Pursue Love

Length: 57 mins 5 secs Plays: 361

Speaker: Lukus Counterman - The church at Corinth was not only divided in its allegiances and distracted by worldly wisdom, it was disgraceful because it allowed sin to fester without remediation. While sexual immorality polluted the congregation, the church acted as if everything was fine. When we look to scripture however, we find that one of the marks of a healthy church is loving discipline. So, Paul calls believers to care enough about their brothers and sisters in Christ to confront them when they stray from the Lord. In 1 Corinthians 5, we learn that just as parents discipline their kids in love, so God, by means of the church, disciplines his children with the hope of restoration. Even though church discipline is not easy or popular, may the Lord help us embrace it as his loving plan for the church.
