Passage: 1 Corinthians 2:6-3:4 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: 1 Corinthians - Pursue Love

Length: 1 hr 0 mins 4 secs Plays: 208

Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In the opening chapters of 1 Corinthians, it could almost seem like Paul is anti-intellectual. He highlights what is foolish, low, and despised. He spotlights the fact that he came in weakness, fear, and much trembling. Paul reminds the Corinthian believers that his preaching was not in plausible words of wisdom. So, it might appear that he is against knowledge or down on wisdom. But that is not the whole picture. Paul is not promoting a broad-brush rejection of wisdom. Instead, he is contrasting human wisdom with spiritual wisdom. Paul wants believers to understand that the wisdom of this age is insufficient and inept. But the wisdom from God, by means of his Spirit, brings growth and unity to the church. By God’s grace may we embrace spiritual wisdom and apply it in the church today.
