Passage: Luke 18:1-43 Speaker: Pastor Jon Kopp Series: Luke - Past Promises, Present Redemption

Length: 55 mins 56 secs Plays: 297

Speaker: Jon Kopp - Our text this weekend is full of distinct contrasts. The highs and lows of human status and power and wealth and ability are on clear display as the scenes of this chapter unfold. We first find Jesus telling 2 parables. One contrasts a powerless widow with a powerful judge. The other is about a clean and respected religious leader and a grimy and despised sinner. Luke then records Jesus speaking of infants with no status or wealth alongside a conversation with a man whose very identity is in his riches. Luke even draws out what the disciples can't see and what a blind man can. Contrast after contrast after contrast. And, as each is put on display, we discover more and more about what is important in God’s kingdom. It all centers around this question: “How can a person enter the kingdom of God?” May God open our eyes to behold the wondrous answer hidden in His word.
