Speaker: Jon Kopp - This morning, we begin a series through the book of Romans 8--Supernatural Living for Natural People. It has been said that this chapter is the greatest chapter in the greatest book ever written. This is not to say that the rest of the Bible should be ignored. All of the Bible is equally inspired, but all of the Bible is not equally inspiring. Romans 8 is infinitely inspiring. It starts with no condemnation, ends with no separation and in between there is no defeat. Another reason that I believe Romans 8 is so inspiring is that it shines so brightly against the backdrop of what has come before it. Paul has just finished sharing a very common scene. In painful detail, he describes the struggle, and all too often failure of his Christian life. (Romans 7:15-23) This is universal for those of us who happen to be sinners. Which, by the way is all of us. All of us feel at times like we are trying, but too often failing at the Christian life. What does God say to those who cry out, \"Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?\" Simply put, he says, keep reading. Because what you find in Romans 8 is just as universal for the Christian as what you find in Romans 7. And as we will see this morning, in Christ, the guilty and failing are safe and strong.
